Over thirty years ago in the Motor City. Esham’s November 22nd, 1994 influential “Wicket Shit” classic ‘Closed Casket’ emerged as a harrowing beacon within the evolution of gangster rap. Pushing the boundaries of the genre into uncharted nightmarish territories. The aptly named horrorcore masterpiece spun chilling tales that enveloped Detroit in a sinister murderous aura, unlike any other work before it. It was more than just rap music; this was an ominous acid rap symphony that painted the city with fear and fascination, guiding listeners through corridors of their own darkest imaginations.
The chilling mental health narratives woven into Esham’s ‘Closed Casket’ verses resonated deeply in Detroit’s underground scene and echoed far beyond its borders Of course, Insane Clown Posse’s theatrical darkness, Eminem’s raw lyrical confrontation, KGP’s blasphemous rhyme schemes, all owe some lineage to the innovation Esham infused into his worlds of gore and existential dread. His audacity to blend vivid horror imagery with heavy metal influence, not only defined Esham’s signature wickedness . But ‘Closed Casket’ also vastly inspired many future Wicked Underground artists who sought to shock audiences while confronting societal taboos.
After 30 years. ‘Closed Casket’ continues to remain to be a thrilling testament to how fear can be an art form—driving home life’s inevitable encounters with death while deftly reshaping the contours of gangster rap itself. As much as it terrorized by scaring Michigan residents to hell and back. The LP also uplifted people to fight back against their own personal urban decayed nightmares; marking a stark line where fantasy meets reality in compelling choreographed emcee skills mastered by Esham’s unfettered creativity. It is this delicate balance between terror and artistry that continues to haunt listeners’ hearts. Even three decades after Closed Casket’s official street date!
Juggalos! Juggalettes! Philanthropists alike! It’s your boy BeZerkaveli coming out of my slumber to bring back something I did eleven years ago, and have been waiting to bring back since. So if you have been a long time user of this website, you may have remembered the previous time I did this, but I also probably reminded you how old we are… It’s okay buddy, we’re in this together.
Anyways guys, I have a couple important announcements to make in regards to this particular giveaway. I totally forgot one major thing to announce with my last announcement, something that has changed, and we’ll start by recouping what is going on in case you missed out.
Eleven years ago, I was doing pretty hot in my life financially. Being someone who deeply believes in the Gospel of Wealth practiced by the Industrialist of yore, I thought up of this giveaway. In 2013, I ended up donating four brand new Carhartts to kids around the nation, and Scottie D actually donated the fifth one. We covered everything, and the kids were able to choose the style and color they wanted. I’m sure some of those coats are probably still in usable condition, even if the kids have outgrown them.
Why I thought of this? I’m from fucking Minnesota where it’s cold as fuck. That particular year, our winter literally rivalled Antarctica’s day time temps. One day for during the day, we were colder then Antarctica for the entire day, so I figured it was a pretty cool idea to get out really high quality coats to children who may never have had an opportunity to own something so high quality.
I tried finding winners in states that were cold, and may have benefitted from a good warm coat. I tried to vet people the best I could to weed out people who may have had bad intentions. Five kids that year walked away with brand new coats though, and it’s something I never forgot.
So flash forward to today. I am not in a strong financial position, but in a strong enough spot to bring this back. Truthfully, I wanted to bring this back for the last eleven years, but either life or people got in my way of that. Now that I have a little opening, I’m going to jump on it.
So that’s where you the community can help. I’ve established a GoFundMe specifically to raise fund to buy even more coats. So many that we could cloth a classroom essentially. Whatever is left over will go to a generic Visa gift card so it can be used anywhere debit cards are accepted (I explained in my last post, the bare minimum for a gift card would be $25. To elaborate, if there was only $5 left in the GoFundMe that was left over from ordering all the coats, then I would actually put down $20 of my own money to make sure the gift card would be at least $25. If the balance is anywhere above $25, but not enough to purchase another jacket, the gift card would whatever the remaining amount was left in the GFM. If that doesn’t make sense, please contact me).
If you would like to donate, here is the link:
Now, I saved the best news for last. The very thing I forgot to mention in the last post. The actual date winners will be announced by. I don’t know how I would forget something that important, but I did. So here’s how that works. On Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 I will announce the winner(s) of the giveaway (First name, last initial, and state would get posted, so if that makes you uncomfortable, please do not enter). I will contact the winner(s) prior to that date though, so please be on a lookout for an email for me. You will have 48 hours to confirm, or I will have to move on to the next (happened in the last giveaway. I still to this day eleven years later have not heard back from that party lol).
If you win, you will be sent a link where I want your kid to be able to choose the coat that they want. I really don’t care how you feel about it, this is for them to win and wear, so they should have the choice. I will then make the order on your behalf, but have it shipped directly to you from Carhartt at my expense. At no point are winners obligated to any financial commitment. Nor is there any entry fee or cost associated for participants. To enter, you simply just send an email about where you’re from and why you think your kid should be selected as a winner (why you think you guys should win). Email me at bezerkaveli@gmail.com.
Well, I hope for a little more activity this time. Was kind of quiet on the last post. You guys don’t have to be so humble. If you’re struggling this year, this might be the perfect opportunity to score a free high quality coat for your kid. Until next time guys, enjoy!!!
Many things in life are questioned. Why did Issac Newton sit under the tree that helped us learn about gravity? Why did Einstein want to learn about relative theory? How do magnets work? One of the most important questions:
How did something like Babymetal survive all the hate that they initially received?
For this band that many called a disgrace to metal to not only survive since their beginning, but flourish… it’s always been something that I’ve been fascinated with. I have been a fan of Babymetal since 2015/2016. I started watching their videos, and just kind of in awe at the crazy amount of visual overload, and musically their sound was unlike anything I had ever heard of. Skip forward to 2024. I have traveled the world, learned Japanese (partly in thanks to Babymetal themselves), even lived in Japan. I still to this day love watching Babymetal live. Their concerts while unlike ICP and most concerts that I frequently travel to see are a different style of sensory overload.
You have the Kami Band: A band behind the girls that are playing some of the heaviest music you can hear, and do it very well. Adorning masks of steel, and wearing clothes to mimic something out of an old Japanese folklore book they manage to pump out the metal for what everyone assumes is a heavy metal show of the ages.
Then out walks the trio of Su-Metal, Moa-Metal, and Momo-Metal. The 3 girls who lead this parade of madness and fun.
(Center). Su-Metal: Vocals, and Dance
(Right). Moa-Metal: Scream, and Dance
(Left) Momo-Metal: Scream, and Dance
This time I went to The Filmore in Charlotte NC to witness the craziness that is Babymetal.
The trip for me in around 2 hours give or take. I have seen them at this exact same venue countless times, the most recent being in 2018. The venue itself has a very nice atmosphere. 3 levels to this music hall. the pit in front of the stage, a mid level which is just up 2 or 3 small steps, and then up another 2-3 steps is the top level, which is also where their merch is located. Babymetal have been known to put out droves of merch for people so I wasn’t shocked to see shirts, posters, cd’s and such for sale… 2 things that did catch my eye’s were that: 1. I didn’t see any vinyl records, and I was shocked to see they actually have Babymetal jerseys now! Super dope!
The supporting act for this tour was an act called “Scene Queen” Female lead 3 piece, Female singer, male drummer and male guitarist. Their songs were not something I was familiar with. Violent Barbie and Ken style lyrics and style were the bands forte from what I’ve gathered. The singer went on to promote gay pride, inclusivity, and more while going on to denounce misogyny, hate and division. That wins me over. We could use less hate and division everywhere.
I met some fans that had traveled from Japan to follow the tour. I introduced myself, and spoke to them in Japanese and they were surprised (I’ve gotten used to that at this point haha) we spoke about baby metal and I even joked with them about my Japanese level. So much fun.
It was a very simple 30 ish minutes opening act, and then straight to the headliner Babymetal. I was standing next to stage left entrance at the bar and I happened to see a familiar face. I ran into someone who many juggalos know. I ran into Dustin Twiztid’s security, and touring guru. In what is now becoming a running joke since I’ve been back from Japan I walked up and was like “Dustin? What the hell are you doing in Charlotte?!” (I also did this when he was out working for Tech N9ne in Denver Colorado). We chatted for a while, talked about me moving back from Japan and his recent work. Always great catching up with him. After that I finished my drink, and walked back over to get ready to photograph a band that I have actually wanted to photograph for many years but never had the chance.
Babymetal took the stage and unlike most concerts I didn’t get to photograph the first 3 songs. The band gave me song 5,6,7,8,9 to photograph. I was over the damn moon. Su-Metal has a voice that can command a crowd unlike any band I’ve ever seen. Strange with it coming out of such a small frame. They had fun with the audience. Before I knew it, I was being ushered into the photo pit for our 5 song long photo op.
I being a photographer was excited to photograph them, but as a Babymetal fan… This was amazing. Front row to a band who I’ve enjoyed singing along to for years. The songs we got to shoot were fun, powerful and even a little silly.
Starting off we got a solo by the Kami Band. Each taking turns showing off their abundance of skills at each instrument, before the familiar tune of “Metali” kicked in. This is a play on words of the Japanese word Matsuri meaning “festival”. It absolutely felt like a metal festival, a Metali if you will.
The girls with their high energy dancing, chanting, and screaming made for an amazing sight through my view finder. I’m hoping the rest of the setlist goes just like this. We get through the next couple songs, then there is a break where the girls run off stage, and on the large screen behind them the letters Fu Fu (this is correlated back to chanting, often used during karaoke in Japan and sounding more like HOO HOO). This was the beginning of the song “RaTaTaTa” This song became #1 on Billboard’s Hard Rock list when it came out. The crowd went wild for this with it being one of their biggest hits now.
The crowd was electric during this song (did you know this song was a collaboration with the band “Electric Callboy”?)and kept the energy going for the rest of the show. Before I knew it my time in the photo pit was over and I headed to the back next to the merch booth to enjoy the rest of the show. They ended the show, and the crowd kept saying “BABYMETAL” until the purple lights hit and they came back out to do a 2 song encore.
“Gimme Chocolate” being probably the song that everyone knows by them, was one of the encore songs. Closing out the show with Road of Resistance, was a normal ending for the show. So much dancing and energy for that song that I’m surprised they can even walk once it is done.
All in all I’m thankful for the chance I was given to photograph the band, and show. I hope you will give them a chance and go see them when they come to a venue near you. If there is one thing that Babymetal has taught me is that you know nothing about this band and “Only The Fox God Knows” their next path.
I hope you juggalos reading and anyone else enjoyed this review of something we don’t normally cover on this site. I hope I can continue bringing you guys awesome unique reviews and photos!
BABYMETAL is on Tour now!
Until next time.
SEE YOU!!

Juggalos, juggalettes, and all the naughty and nice boys and girls of the world. It’s your boy BeZerkaveli, and I am happy to bring this announcement back after many years of not being able to do it. So what is it might you ask? Wait… you alread know. It’s in the title.
Anyways, let’s get to the gist. Many moons ago, I did this same giveaway. It’s very easy to enter, and there’s no cost to the winner. All you do is email me, give me a short (please keep it short. My cognitive issues make it hard to get through a lot of writing these days) reason why you’re nominating whomever you are. You can nominate your own kids, a kid you know, your grandchild, etc. Whomever you know that would need this coat. That’s about it. I’ll select one person generally at random, but the stories do help me come to a decision.
After a candidate is selected (the winner has 7 calendar days to respond before moving to another person), they will be send a link from Carhartt’s website, and your kid will be able to pick a winter coat from there. You tell me which one they want, and I’ll put in the order. I cover shipping and handling as well. There is no cost to enter, nor are there any extra fees to winners.
Like the last time I put this one, I will be primarily considering candidates from cold weather regions. I don’t know how many I will be giving away this year, but I know at least one of them. I am looking for other sponsors or people who’d like to contribute. So if you would consider contributing, comment in the comment section, or on Facebook (sorry I don’t have other social medias to see the comment activities on the other platforms you might find FLH on). If I notice enough general support, I’ll set up a GoFundMe specifically for that. Then if there’s money left over, we’ll do a gift card to someone with whatever is left over (unless it’s under $25. If that’s the case, I will put up the rest of the cash to make it $25). This is NOT a 501.c, so donation are NOT tax deductible.
Honestly, I’ve been wanting to do this for a really long time since I did it last. Life would always kick me in the face usually, and it’s not like it’s stopped; I’m just in a much better position to take on donating at least one coat this year. So without further ado, I will open up my email to people. People title emails Kid’s Carhartt Giveaway or something that let’s me know that’s what it is, or it might get filtered out as spam or disregarded all together. My email, bezerkaveli@gmail.com
If there are any more updates, I’ll let you guys know. Until next time, enjoy!!!!
